If I stay, he will kill me. If I leave, he'll destroy Addie and Drew.

Jillian Kane appears to have it all - a successful career, a gorgeous home, a loving husband, and two wonderful children. The reality behind closed doors is something else entirely. For nine years, she has hid the bruises and the truth of her abusive marriage in order to protect Addie and Drew, knowing, if she left, Gordon would destroy her-destroy them.

When, in an act of desperation, she flees, her worst nightmare is realized, and she finds herself on the run with her two young children, no money, and no plan. With Gordon in hot pursuit, there is only one inescapable certainty: No matter where she goes, he will find her. Kill her. And take her children.

A riveting page-turner, Hush Little Baby exposes the shame and terror of domestic violence as well as the disturbing role manipulation and sabotage can play in the high-stakes game of child custody. Suspenseful and unforgettably moving, it's a novel about the unbreakable bonds of family and the astounding, terrifying devotion of a mother's love.

Can you see the evil?

Can you recognize the true crime when all you see is a perfect family?

Jillian Kane seems to have it all: a career, husband, two kids, house in a good neighborhood. But no one knows that she is a very good actress. She hides the pain from her face, hides the bruises on her body, hoping that tomorrow things will be better. No one could ever say that her husband is so abusive, she can’t prove that behind the angel’s face is a real devil. She can’t complain. When she did, to her father, poor old man had a stroke. She doesn’t want to cause him more pain. She tries to protect her children, he will hurt them. Their own father will hurt them just to hurt her.

Can she escape the nightmare?

This amazing story gives you the answer of the question what is a mother capable for in order to protect her children. A woman is capable of denying the truth, making compromises in order to be happy and feel protected, but a mother will turn the world upside-down to protect her children. This page-turning novel literary made me feel grippy and tensed to the very ending. I don’t have children yet, but I can only assume what would I do if my child is in trouble. Domestic violence is not an easy issue to talk about. Many women keep it silent and no one knows what happens behind the closed doors. The author seeks deep into the human psychology, goes behind the closed doors and touches deep into the wounds of the violated mother and wife. It’s not an easy read, takes you a lot of straight to continue, but the adrenaline in the story keeps you reading faster and faster. A marvelous read, I can easily see this novel turning into a movie.

My opinion: 4.5 / 5.
